Some stages simply feel bigger than others.
Over more than two decades, Norwegian rap duo Karpe have grown into one of the biggest and most influential acts in Norwegian music. Time and again, they have pushed the boundaries of what a Norwegian live production can be – including ten sold-out shows at Oslo Spektrum in 2022.
In the summer of 2026, they took things even further with Karpe World at Ekebergsletta in Oslo: an entire festival universe built around their music, history and creative world. Across three sold-out days, around 105,000 people attended.
I had the opportunity to become a small part of that universe as the choreographer for artist Sa_G, who was performing on the Mike It Happen stage.
And yes – it’s Mike, not Make. The name is intentional and part of Karpe’s internal universe of names, references and concepts that could be found throughout the festival.
For the show, I choreographed Sa_G’s performance, which also featured artist Bianca. And this time, I wasn’t only behind the scenes as the choreographer – I was performing as a dancer as well.
Walking onto the Mike It Happen stage that day meant performing in front of the largest audience I have ever danced for on a physical stage.
There is something special about those final moments before stepping on stage. All the work, choreography, rehearsals and tiny details are still somewhere in your mind – but the second the music starts, you have to let it all go and simply be present.
Getting to experience that in the middle of something as significant to Norwegian music as Karpe World made it even more special.
A small moment inside an enormous world – and definitely one I’ll carry with me.
